The Hebrew word eth (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance #H853) spelled Aleph-Tay is left untranslated because it is used to provide emphasis in the text with the sense of “entity; self.” Depending on the structure of the sentence, eth may mean “even, or namely.” There is no equivalent English word, and for this reason, eth generally is left unrepresented in English. Genesis 1:1 gives an example of its use: “In the beginning, God [Himself - eth] created the heavens and the earth.”
