This is a very important question. In ancient times during the reign of a just and wise ruler, a rebellion occurred. A usurper rose up and lied about the character of the emperor. He succeeded in convincing the people to oppose the rule of their rightful king. Although the emperor had the power to suppress the rebellion at once, he permitted the liar tyrant to rule the people. In this way, the people experienced the hardships, sorrows and evils of misrule. They learned the results of disobedience so that they might the appreciate the advantages of the wise and beneficent reign of the monarch.
In time, the people grew very weary of the woes and sorrows inflicted by the usurper. When the opportunity finally presented itself to escape from the evil dominion, they gladly returned to their emperor! They expressed their allegiance and full submission to his just commands.
This story is really about mankind and their choice to follow Satan as their ruler. As we all know, Satan has brought sorrow, pain, death, and suffering to all people. However, soon "The god (ruler) of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4) is to be fully bound and the people, liberated from his dominion and tyranny. (Revelation 20:1) Mankind will be instructed in righteousness! "When thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness (Isaiah 26:9)." "No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the LORD,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest,” declares the LORD. “For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” Jeremiah 31:34 (NIV)
Mankind will then appreciate the wise and just commands of their creator, their rightful sovereign. They will be healed of all their problems in heart, mind, and body. (See Isaiah 35.) And they will rejoice forever more!
“And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:9
