The word “gospel” means “good news.” Preaching the Gospel means telling others the good news that Jesus died to redeem all mankind. “Who (Jesus) gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” 1 Timothy 2:6.
When is the due time for this wonderful truth to be told? Jesus began the great work when He said, “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.” Luke 4:18 Throughout His earthly ministry, Jesus spread the news of the coming Kingdom and the blessings it will bring to the human race. To those who desire to follow His example of self-denial and cross-bearing in this present fallen world, He invites to become His beloved church. However, when we look at the billions of mankind who have ever lived, very few have heard and responded to this invitation.
Is there good news for the other 90% of people? Yes. In His coming kingdom, Christ will resurrect every man, woman, and child (John 5:28, 29). Then He will testify the good news of deliverance from sin and death to all. Isaiah 11:9, “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” Hebrews 8:12 (CSB), “For I will forgive their wrongdoing, and I will never again remember their sins.”
This is the true Gospel. This Gospel truly is good news for all! Those who choose to obey Jesus’ righteous rule and laws of love and justice will live forever. Those who desire their own sinful ways will die the second death and cease to exist. Therefore, when we talk with others about Jesus, or hand them a booklet about God’s kingdom, or use internet apps to explain God’s truths, we are preaching the Gospel.
