We read in Matthew 24:21: (KJV) For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Jesus was quoting from the prophet Daniel 12:1. In both scriptures, the context has to do with the return of our Lord. What we need to recognize is that the true purpose of Jesus return is to bless, and to restore, “that which was lost” (Matthew 18:11). A “time of trouble” accompanies the initial stages of Jesus work, that of removing the present orders of earthly government so that he can establish his own new form of government amongst men. Once the old, corrupt order has been finally swept away, the new righteous order of the kingdom of Christ will be fully commenced.
So, what happens after the troublous times? Blessings happen! Blessings so wonderful, so comprehensive that we are incapable of even imagining what they will be like.
1 Corinthians 2:9: (KJV) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
This will take place right here, in the earth, a restored earthly paradise such as it was in Eden. (Acts 3:19-21) When the work of restoring this beautiful earthly home is complete, Jesus' prayer will be finally answered. Matthew 6:10: (KJV) Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Some unfortunately only see the “tribulation” in the earth when they think of Jesus return. That however is only half the picture, and not the better half. The better half is described by the prophet Isaiah using the following words.
Isaiah 26:9: (KJV) With my soul have I desired thee in the night (of sin and death); yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.
