God first established marriage in the Garden of Eden when He created Adam and Eve (a man and a woman). Genesis 2:22-24 reads, “Then the rib which the LORD God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; She shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’ Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.” Thus, God designed marriage to be between two people of the opposite sex.
Jesus also said marriage is between a man and a woman. Matthew 19:4-5, “And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’?”
Additionally, the Bible is very clear about the sin of practicing homosexuality. Leviticus 20:13 states, “And if a man lie with mankind, as with womankind, both of them have committed abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.” Sexual intimacy with a person of the same sex is forbidden.
The remedy for anyone practicing adultery or homosexuality is to stop the relationship immediately, confess his/her sin, ask for forgiveness through Jesus, and never engage in these forbidden behaviors again.
